Organizado por el <strong>Day of Independence Committee of Panamanians in New York (DICPNY)<\/strong>, el desfile recorri\u00f3 la <strong>Franklin Avenue<\/strong> desde <strong>Bergen Street hasta Eastern Parkway<\/strong>, culminando con un <strong>festival cultural<\/strong> en <strong>Classon Avenue<\/strong>, donde la comunidad paname\u00f1a en <strong>Nueva York<\/strong> reafirm\u00f3 su <strong>presencia y legado cultural<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El evento, lleno de <strong>m\u00fasica tradicional, polleras bordadas y los caracter\u00edsticos \u00abdiablicos sucios\u00bb<\/strong>, fue una <strong>celebraci\u00f3n vibrante<\/strong> de la <strong>independencia paname\u00f1a<\/strong> y de la <strong>hispanidad<\/strong>, en un contexto donde la comunidad, compuesta por alrededor de <strong>22,000 residentes<\/strong> seg\u00fan la consultora <strong>Neilsberg<\/strong>, sigue <strong>luchando por mayor visibilidad<\/strong>. <em>\u00abEstamos aqu\u00ed por orgullo, pero tambi\u00e9n por dignidad. Queremos que se nos reconozca como parte viva de esta ciudad\u00bb<\/em>, expres\u00f3 <strong>Mireya Castillo<\/strong>, una de las asistentes, quien resalt\u00f3 la necesidad de que la <strong>identidad paname\u00f1a<\/strong> sea reconocida en el diverso panorama cultural de Nueva York.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sin embargo, el desfile tambi\u00e9n evidenci\u00f3 las <strong>desigualdades en el apoyo institucional<\/strong> que enfrentan las comunidades latinas en la ciudad. Mientras eventos como el <strong>Puerto Rican Day Parade<\/strong> reciben <strong>apoyo log\u00edstico y presupuesto<\/strong>, el <strong>Panamanian Day Parade<\/strong> depende en gran medida del <strong>esfuerzo comunitario<\/strong>. <em>\u00abTodo esto se hace con esfuerzo vecinal; la ciudad deber\u00eda estar m\u00e1s presente\u00bb<\/em>, se\u00f1al\u00f3 <strong>Ricardo Mel\u00e9ndez<\/strong>, un participante de una comparsa de <strong>Queens<\/strong>, quien destac\u00f3 la <strong>falta de recursos oficiales<\/strong> en comparaci\u00f3n con otras celebraciones.
