Como resultado, el Gobierno decret\u00f3 la <strong>suspensi\u00f3n de la docencia por 48 horas<\/strong> \u2014mi\u00e9rcoles 22 y jueves 23\u2014 y la <strong>reducci\u00f3n de la jornada laboral hasta la 1:00 PM<\/strong> en las provincias bajo <strong>alerta roja<\/strong>, que abarcan desde el <strong>Gran Santo Domingo hasta Pedernales<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La medida, anunciada tras analizar los informes del <strong>Instituto Dominicano de Meteorolog\u00eda (Indomet)<\/strong>, busca <strong>proteger a la poblaci\u00f3n<\/strong> ante los <strong>acumulados de lluvia previstos entre 200 y 300 mil\u00edmetros<\/strong>, especialmente en el <strong>sur y la cordillera Central<\/strong>. Abinader, acompa\u00f1ado por la vicepresidenta <strong>Raquel Pe\u00f1a<\/strong> y el director del COE <strong>Juan Manuel M\u00e9ndez<\/strong>, hizo un llamado a la ciudadan\u00eda para que <strong>evite zonas de riesgo<\/strong> y siga las indicaciones de las autoridades. Adem\u00e1s, se inst\u00f3 al <strong>sector privado<\/strong> a adoptar horarios reducidos en las provincias afectadas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El COE mantendr\u00e1 <strong>operativos de vigilancia<\/strong> y <strong>evacuaciones preventivas<\/strong> en \u00e1reas vulnerables, mientras la tormenta Melissa, con <strong>vientos de 85 km\/h<\/strong>, se desplaza hacia el territorio dominicano. Las autoridades advirtieron que, si nuevas provincias pasan a <strong>alerta roja<\/strong>, las suspensiones de actividades <strong>se aplicar\u00e1n de inmediato<\/strong>.
