Con la llegada del <strong>alcalde electo Zohran Mamdani<\/strong>, estos trabajadores esperan que se apruebe el <strong>paquete legislativo 431-A<\/strong>, una reforma que busca <strong>regularizar su actividad<\/strong> y ampliar el n\u00famero de licencias disponibles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Este mi\u00e9rcoles, en el <strong>D\u00eda Internacional del Vendedor Ambulante<\/strong>, decenas de comerciantes se reunieron frente a la alcald\u00eda en el <strong>Bajo Manhattan<\/strong> para exigir la aprobaci\u00f3n de esta legislaci\u00f3n. El proyecto, que fue enmendado la semana pasada, propone <strong>aumentar las licencias para vendedores de alimentos<\/strong> y garantizar un sistema m\u00e1s justo y regulado.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Guadalupe Sosa<\/strong>, vendedora ambulante de segunda generaci\u00f3n en <strong>East Harlem<\/strong>, declar\u00f3: <em>\u00abQueremos que nuestra ciudad nos reconozca. Somos el pilar de Nueva York, alimentamos a la gente y merecemos respeto\u00bb<\/em>. La <strong>concejal Pierina S\u00e1nchez<\/strong>, patrocinante de la reforma, enfatiz\u00f3 que <em>\u00abnunca ha habido un momento m\u00e1s urgente para traer orden, dignidad y justicia a nuestras calles\u00bb<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El <strong>Proyecto 431-A<\/strong> busca emitir <strong>2,000 nuevas licencias para vendedores de alimentos<\/strong> y <strong>2,100 licencias generales<\/strong> en los pr\u00f3ximos cinco a\u00f1os, eliminando el l\u00edmite arbitrario que ha impedido a miles de vendedores trabajar legalmente. Adem\u00e1s, la propuesta incluye <strong>medidas m\u00e1s estrictas contra quienes violen las normas<\/strong>, pero con un enfoque en <strong>educaci\u00f3n y regulaci\u00f3n<\/strong>, no en la criminalizaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Los vendedores, en su mayor\u00eda <strong>inmigrantes<\/strong>, han sufrido durante a\u00f1os <strong>redadas, multas y desalojos<\/strong> por parte de la polic\u00eda.
