Este vessel, uno de los m\u00e1s avanzados del mundo en investigaci\u00f3n marina, operar\u00e1 durante <strong>30 d\u00edas<\/strong> en aguas territoriales para estudiar la <strong>tect\u00f3nica oblicua<\/strong>, la <strong>deformaci\u00f3n del fondo marino<\/strong> y los <strong>peligros asociados a terremotos y tsunamis<\/strong>, fen\u00f3menos que han afectado hist\u00f3ricamente a la isla.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u00bfQu\u00e9 se investigar\u00e1 en Geomarhis?<\/strong> El proyecto, liderado por cient\u00edficos de la <strong>Universidad Complutense de Madrid<\/strong> y financiado por Espa\u00f1a y Reino Unido, se dividir\u00e1 en dos fases:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Diciembre 2025:<\/strong> Estudio de las costas de <strong>Santo Domingo y Puerto Plata<\/strong>, con escala en este \u00faltimo puerto el <strong>18 de diciembre<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Enero 2026:<\/strong> An\u00e1lisis de las zonas de <strong>Saman\u00e1 y Manzanillo<\/strong>, \u00e1reas con alta actividad s\u00edsmica y potencial de tsunamis.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Durante su visita, Abinader recibi\u00f3 una presentaci\u00f3n del <strong>doctor Jos\u00e9 Luis Granja Bru\u00f1a<\/strong>, quien explic\u00f3 que el buque utilizar\u00e1 tecnolog\u00eda de <strong>sonar multihaz y perfiladores s\u00edsmicos<\/strong> para:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Identificar fallas geol\u00f3gicas<\/strong> submarinas que podr\u00edan generar terremotos.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Evaluar el riesgo de tsunamis<\/strong> en zonas costeras vulnerables.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mapear recursos minerales<\/strong> en el fondo marino, como hidratos de gas y dep\u00f3sitos de metales.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Tecnolog\u00eda a bordo: Precisi\u00f3n y capacidad sin precedentes<\/strong> El <strong>RRS James Cook<\/strong> est\u00e1 equipado con:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Sistemas de imagen 3D<\/strong> para crear mapas detallados del fondo marino.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>ROVs (veh\u00edculos operados a distancia)<\/strong> que pueden descender hasta <strong>6,000 metros de profundidad<\/strong> para tomar muestras.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Laboratorios m\u00f3viles<\/strong> donde los cient\u00edficos procesan datos en tiempo real.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Abinader recorri\u00f3 las instalaciones junto al <strong>ministro de Energ\u00eda y Minas, Joel Santos<\/strong>, y las embajadoras de <strong>Espa\u00f1a y Reino Unido<\/strong>, quienes resaltaron que este proyecto es un <strong>ejemplo de cooperaci\u00f3n internacional<\/strong> para la <strong>prevenci\u00f3n de desastres<\/strong> y la <strong>gesti\u00f3n sostenible de recursos marinos<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u00bfPor qu\u00e9 es crucial este estudio para Rep\u00fablica Dominicana?<\/strong> El pa\u00eds se encuentra en una <strong>zona de alta actividad s\u00edsmica<\/strong>, donde la <strong>falla de Enriquillo-Plantain Garden<\/strong> y otras estructuras geol\u00f3gicas representan un riesgo constante. Los datos recolectados permitir\u00e1n:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Mejorar los sistemas de alerta temprana<\/strong> para terremotos y tsunamis.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Planificar infraestructuras resilientes<\/strong> en zonas costeras como Saman\u00e1 y Puerto Plata.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Identificar recursos energ\u00e9ticos<\/strong> (como hidratos de gas) que podr\u00edan impulsar la transici\u00f3n energ\u00e9tica.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Un compromiso con la ciencia y la seguridad<\/strong> La visita de Abinader al <strong>RRS James Cook<\/strong> refleja el compromiso del gobierno con la <strong>investigaci\u00f3n cient\u00edfica<\/strong> y la <strong>protecci\u00f3n de las comunidades costeras<\/strong>.
