Durante el acto, el director general de Pasaportes, <strong>Lorenzo Ram\u00edrez<\/strong>, destac\u00f3 que esta iniciativa es el resultado del <strong>liderazgo de Abinader<\/strong> y de una <strong>pol\u00edtica de Estado<\/strong> para actualizar las instituciones y elevar los est\u00e1ndares del documento de viaje. <em>\u00abEste pasaporte representa un antes y despu\u00e9s en la seguridad y la credibilidad internacional de Rep\u00fablica Dominicana\u00bb<\/em>, afirm\u00f3 Ram\u00edrez, subrayando que el pa\u00eds ahora cumple con los <strong>est\u00e1ndares globales<\/strong> m\u00e1s avanzados.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El nuevo pasaporte incorpora <strong>tecnolog\u00eda biom\u00e9trica de \u00faltima generaci\u00f3n<\/strong>, incluyendo <strong>tres niveles de protecci\u00f3n<\/strong> que solo poseen menos de <strong>40 pa\u00edses<\/strong> en el mundo. Esto no solo <strong>reduce el riesgo de fraude<\/strong>, sino que tambi\u00e9n <strong>facilita la movilidad internacional<\/strong> de los dominicanos, mejorando su <strong>credibilidad ante otros pa\u00edses<\/strong>. Ram\u00edrez explic\u00f3 que, durante un <strong>per\u00edodo de transici\u00f3n<\/strong>, el pasaporte mec\u00e1nico actual y el electr\u00f3nico <strong>coexistir\u00e1n<\/strong>, hasta que se complete el proceso de renovaci\u00f3n gradual de todos los documentos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A partir del <strong>19 de febrero<\/strong>, comenzar\u00e1 el <strong>enrolamiento gradual<\/strong> de ciudadanos, priorizando a aquellos con pasaportes <strong>vencidos o por vencer en los pr\u00f3ximos seis meses<\/strong>, as\u00ed como las solicitudes de primera vez. Este proceso se iniciar\u00e1 en las oficinas de <strong>mayor demanda en Santo Domingo y la regi\u00f3n Norte<\/strong>, extendi\u00e9ndose progresivamente a todo el territorio nacional. <em>\u00abQueremos garantizar una implementaci\u00f3n ordenada y sin interrupciones\u00bb<\/em>, asegur\u00f3 Ram\u00edrez, destacando que el nuevo documento tendr\u00e1 una <strong>vigencia de 10 a\u00f1os para adultos<\/strong> y <strong>5 a\u00f1os para menores de 18 a\u00f1os<\/strong>, conforme a las recomendaciones de la <strong>Organizaci\u00f3n de Aviaci\u00f3n Civil Internacional (OACI)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El pasaporte electr\u00f3nico tendr\u00e1 un <strong>costo de RD$6,700<\/strong>, lo que representa un incremento de <strong>RD$1,050<\/strong> respecto al documento actual.
