Este tratamiento, que evita la resistencia y no genera efectos secundarios graves, representa una <strong>esperanza real<\/strong> para los pacientes con este tipo de c\u00e1ncer, que tiene uno de los peores pron\u00f3sticos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>El estudio y sus hallazgos<\/strong> Publicado en la revista <strong>PNAS<\/strong>, el estudio fue liderado por las investigadoras <strong>Vasiliki Liaki y Sara Barrambana<\/strong>, junto a <strong>Carmen Guerra<\/strong>. La terapia se centra en bloquear tres prote\u00ednas clave: <strong>KRAS, EGFR y STAT3<\/strong>, que impulsan el crecimiento del tumor y generan resistencia. En el experimento, <strong>16 de los 18 ratones<\/strong> tratados permanecieron libres de c\u00e1ncer durante 200 d\u00edas tras finalizar el tratamiento.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>El desaf\u00edo del c\u00e1ncer de p\u00e1ncreas<\/strong> El <strong>adenocarcinoma ductal de p\u00e1ncreas<\/strong> es uno de los c\u00e1nceres m\u00e1s letales, con una tasa de supervivencia a cinco a\u00f1os de solo el <strong>5%<\/strong>. Aunque existen f\u00e1rmacos que bloquean el oncog\u00e9n <strong>KRAS<\/strong>, su eficacia es limitada debido a la resistencia que desarrollan los tumores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>El camino hacia la cura<\/strong> En 2019, el equipo del CNIO logr\u00f3 suprimir el c\u00e1ncer en ratones bloqueando <strong>EGFR y RAF1<\/strong>, pero con resultados limitados. Tras seis a\u00f1os de investigaci\u00f3n, descubrieron que <strong>STAT3<\/strong> tambi\u00e9n contribuye a la resistencia. La nueva terapia triple, que combina <strong>daraxonrasib, afatinib y SD36<\/strong>, logr\u00f3 mantener a los ratones libres de tumor durante <strong>300 d\u00edas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Pr\u00f3ximos pasos y financiaci\u00f3n<\/strong> El siguiente paso es <strong>mejorar la terapia<\/strong> y extenderla a otros modelos de rat\u00f3n. Adem\u00e1s, se estudiar\u00e1n las met\u00e1stasis para identificar qu\u00e9 pacientes podr\u00edan beneficiarse. Barbacid hizo un llamado a <strong>cirujanos y pat\u00f3logos<\/strong> para que env\u00eden muestras de pacientes al CNIO.
