Seg\u00fan esta investigaci\u00f3n, la biosfera vegetal de nuestro planeta podr\u00eda mantenerse durante aproximadamente 1,860 millones de a\u00f1os m\u00e1s, una cifra que supera las estimaciones previas. Este plazo est\u00e1 estrechamente ligado al envejecimiento del Sol, cuya luminosidad aumenta de manera gradual, lo que a su vez modifica el clima terrestre y las condiciones para la vida vegetal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A medida que el Sol envejece, su brillo se intensifica, lo que tiene un impacto directo en el clima de la Tierra. En este contexto, la fotos\u00edntesis C4, que es t\u00edpica de plantas como el ma\u00edz o la ca\u00f1a de az\u00facar, alcanzar\u00eda su l\u00edmite debido a la falta de di\u00f3xido de carbono en aproximadamente 1,350 millones de a\u00f1os. Sin embargo, el estudio sugiere que plantas con metabolismo \u00e1cido de las crasul\u00e1ceas, como los cactus y algunas orqu\u00eddeas, as\u00ed como ciertas plantas acu\u00e1ticas que pueden utilizar bicarbonato disuelto, podr\u00edan extender la supervivencia de la biosfera vegetal hasta unos 1,840 millones de a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En el segundo escenario, de meteorizaci\u00f3n d\u00e9bil, el di\u00f3xido de carbono se mantiene constante, pero el aumento de la temperatura se convierte en el principal factor limitante. Seg\u00fan las estimaciones del estudio, la Tierra ser\u00eda demasiado c\u00e1lida para la mayor\u00eda de las plantas terrestres dentro de unos 1,680 millones de a\u00f1os, y para todas las plantas alrededor de 1,870 millones de a\u00f1os.
