Este extra\u00f1o molusco fue recolectado por primera vez en <strong>2015<\/strong> a m\u00e1s de <strong>1,700 metros de profundidad<\/strong> en el norte del archipi\u00e9lago ecuatoriano. Solo se han avistado <strong>tres ejemplares<\/strong>, pero los otros dos apenas fueron grabados en video.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En <strong>2022<\/strong>, el pulpo fue trasladado al <strong>Museo Field de Historia Natural de Chicago<\/strong>, donde fue clasificado como <strong>Microeledone galapagensis<\/strong> y dado a conocer al mundo. Ahora, ha regresado a Gal\u00e1pagos, aunque sin el <strong>azul vibrante<\/strong> de sus tent\u00e1culos. Su cuerpo, ahora <strong>opaco y p\u00e1lido<\/strong>, fue recibido por investigadores de la Estaci\u00f3n Cient\u00edfica Charles Darwin, quienes lo manipularon con suma delicadeza. El ejemplar lleg\u00f3 envuelto en una <strong>gasa con alcohol<\/strong> a este archipi\u00e9lago, ubicado a <strong>1,000 kil\u00f3metros de la costa de Ecuador<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Un holotipo para la ciencia<\/strong> Miguel Pinto, <strong>curador principal de las colecciones de Historia Natural de la Estaci\u00f3n<\/strong>, explic\u00f3 que el pulpo regresa <em>\u00abcon un nombre y tenemos buenas noticias: es una especie end\u00e9mica\u00bb<\/em>. Desde esta semana, el ejemplar se exhibe en una <strong>galer\u00eda de la estaci\u00f3n<\/strong>, con una <strong>etiqueta roja<\/strong> que lo identifica como <strong>holotipo<\/strong>, el animal en el que se basa la descripci\u00f3n de la nueva especie. Ahora forma parte de una colecci\u00f3n que alberga m\u00e1s de <strong>140,000 ejemplares<\/strong> de organismos marinos, vertebrados, invertebrados terrestres y plantas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Para <strong>Paulina Sepa<\/strong>, responsable de las colecciones marinas, el retorno del pulpo permitir\u00e1 <strong>avanzar en estudios<\/strong> sobre la <strong>biodiversidad de Gal\u00e1pagos<\/strong>, una <strong>reserva de la biosfera y Patrimonio Natural de la Humanidad<\/strong> de la UNESCO. <em>\u00abHay much\u00edsimo m\u00e1s por descubrir, hay un mill\u00f3n de preguntas\u00bb<\/em>, dijo Sepa.
