La informaci\u00f3n fue confirmada por miembros de su equipo de campa\u00f1a.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Fernando Villavicencio, candidato presidencial de Ecuador, fue asesinado<\/strong>&nbsp;este mi\u00e9rcoles 9 de agosto mientras estaba en la parte externa del Colegio Anderson, ubicado en Quito, luego de salir de un mitin pol\u00edtico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El periodista Christian Zurita public\u00f3 en la red social X (anteriormente conocida como Twitter)&nbsp;<strong>el momento en que unos sicarios le dispararon a Villavicencio<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En el video publicado por Zurita se puede observar la reacci\u00f3n de la gente luego del atentado que sufri\u00f3 Villavicencio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Carlos Figueroa, asesor de campa\u00f1a de Villavicencio,&nbsp;<strong>confirm\u00f3 que el candidato presidencial fue asesinado aproximadamente a las 6:45 PM de este mi\u00e9rcoles<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El diario&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eluniverso.com\/noticias\/politica\/elecciones-presidenciales-2023-consejo-nacional-electoral-candidatos-fernando-villavicencio-nota\/\">El Universo<\/a>&nbsp;rese\u00f1\u00f3 que diversos testigos se\u00f1alaron que alrededor de las 6:20 PM se escuch\u00f3 una r\u00e1faga de tiros y que vieron como Villavicencio cay\u00f3 al piso.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Asimismo, informaron que hay al menos 8 heridos m\u00e1s por causa del tiroteo, y siete de ellos fueron trasladados a la Cl\u00ednica de La Mujer.&nbsp;<strong>Fue en esta instituci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica en la que se confirm\u00f3 que Villavicencio hab\u00eda fallecido, luego de recibir tres disparos en la cabeza<\/strong>, seg\u00fan inform\u00f3&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eluniverso.com\/noticias\/politica\/elecciones-presidenciales-2023-consejo-nacional-electoral-candidatos-fernando-villavicencio-nota\/\">El Universo<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El presidente de Ecuador, Guillermo Lasso,&nbsp;<strong>lament\u00f3 la muerte de Villavicencio y expres\u00f3 sus condolencias a la familia del candidato presidencial.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c<strong>Indignado y consternado por el asesinato del candidato presidencial Fernando Villavicencio<\/strong>. Mi solidaridad y mis condolencias con su esposa y sus hijas. Por su memoria y por su lucha, les aseguro que este crimen no va a quedar impune\u201d, asever\u00f3 el mandatario ecuatoriano en la red social X.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Asimismo, Lasso confirm\u00f3 que su gabinete de seguridad se reunir\u00e1 para investigar el suceso.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cEl Gabinete de Seguridad se reunir\u00e1 en pocos minutos en Carondelet. He pedido a la presidenta del CNE, Diana Atamaint; a la Fiscal General del Estado, Diana Salazar; al Presidente de la Corte Nacional de Justicia, Iv\u00e1n Saquicela; y a las dem\u00e1s autoridades, de Estado que asistan de manera urgente a esta reuni\u00f3n para tratar este hecho que ha consternado al pa\u00eds.&nbsp;<strong>El crimen organizado ha llegado muy lejos, pero les va a caer todo el peso de la ley<\/strong>\u201c.
