La empresa justifica que brinda un servicio superior e invierte m\u00e1s en seguridad y ecolog\u00eda.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Con Edison cobra casi 100% m\u00e1s por suministrar gas a algunos clientes de la NYC que su rival National Grid, denunci\u00f3 el congresista (D) Ritchie Torres, citando un estudio realizado por su oficina que expone los \u201csobrecargos ocultos\u201d del gigante energ\u00e9tico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Al analizar las facturas de gas de viviendas multifamiliares de este a\u00f1o y 2023, la oficina del congresista Torres encontr\u00f3 precios m\u00e1s altos en todas las \u00e1reas atendidas por Con Edison: El Bronx, Manhattan y parte de Queens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En El Bronx los costos promedio de entrega por unidad t\u00e9rmica de gas de Con Edison fueron de $1.29 d\u00f3lares; en Manhattan $1.01 y Queens $0.92, seg\u00fan el estudio. En tanto, National Grid cobra un promedio de $0.54 centavos por unidad t\u00e9rmica, y sus clientes de Queens pagaron $0.45, seg\u00fan el an\u00e1lisis, que no incluy\u00f3 Staten Island.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Con Edison no cuestion\u00f3 la diferencia de costos, pero dijo que estaba proporcionando un producto superior y haciendo inversiones en seguridad y \u201cenerg\u00eda limpia\u201d. \u201cReemplazamos 80 millas de tuber\u00edas principales de hierro fundido y acero anualmente, realizamos patrullas mensuales contra fugas y estamos instalando un detector de gas, el primero de su tipo, en los hogares de los clientes, un enorme paso adelante para la seguridad\u201d, dijo el portavoz Allan Drury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Torres ahora exige a la Comisi\u00f3n de Servicios P\u00fablicos (PSC) del estado Nueva York, que regula y supervisa las industrias del gas, la electricidad y el agua, que investigue las \u201cinexplicables disparidades\u201d. \u201cCuando un monopolio sancionado por el estado abusa de su poder para cobrar de m\u00e1s al p\u00fablico, agravando el costo devastador de la inflaci\u00f3n, recae tanto en la gobernaci\u00f3n como en la Comisi\u00f3n de Servicios P\u00fablicos la carga de actuar r\u00e1pidamente para proteger los d\u00f3lares ganados con tanto esfuerzo por los neoyorquinos de precios predatorios\u201d, dijo Torres al New York Post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Con Ed vende electricidad en la mayor parte del condado Westchester y en toda la ciudad de Nueva York, excepto en una peque\u00f1a parte de Queens.
