Esta medida, que hab\u00eda estado vigente por dos a\u00f1os, fue revocada tras una revisi\u00f3n exhaustiva de las condiciones laborales en la empresa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPor lo tanto, ya se vuelve a la normalidad y Central Romana ya podr\u00e1 exportar az\u00facar y sus dem\u00e1s productos hacia Estados Unidos, como siempre lo ha hecho\u201d, manifest\u00f3 el mandatario durante la Semanal con la Prensa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Antecedentes de la Restricci\u00f3n<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>En noviembre de 2022, los oficiales de Aduanas y Protecci\u00f3n Fronteriza de Estados Unidos (CBP) informaron que detendr\u00edan los embarques de az\u00facar sin refinar y los productos a base de az\u00facar producidos por Central Romana Corporation. Esta decisi\u00f3n se tom\u00f3 debido a denuncias de \u201ctrabajo forzoso\u201d en contra de la empresa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La instituci\u00f3n indic\u00f3 que esta fue una de las acciones tomadas por Estados Unidos para abordar el trabajo forzoso y otros abusos contra los derechos humanos en todo el mundo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Contexto Internacional<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>En septiembre de 2022, el Departamento de Trabajo de los EE.UU. identific\u00f3 la ca\u00f1a de az\u00facar de la Rep\u00fablica Dominicana en su Lista de bienes producidos por trabajo infantil o trabajo forzoso. Adem\u00e1s, el Departamento de Estado de los EE.UU. coloc\u00f3 a la Rep\u00fablica Dominicana en su lista de nivel 2 en su informe Trafficking In Persons Report, emitido en julio de 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El comunicado publicado por la entidad indica que en el informe de septiembre de 2022, titulado \u201cEstimaciones globales de la esclavitud moderna: trabajo forzado y matrimonio forzado\u201d, la Organizaci\u00f3n Internacional del Trabajo estima que casi 28 millones de trabajadores sufren condiciones de trabajo forzado en todo el mundo. Las empresas extranjeras explotan el trabajo forzoso para vender bienes por debajo del valor de mercado.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reacci\u00f3n del Presidente<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>El presidente Abinader destac\u00f3 la importancia de esta decisi\u00f3n para la econom\u00eda dominicana y para los trabajadores de Central Romana. \u201cEsta medida no solo beneficia a la empresa, sino tambi\u00e9n a miles de familias que dependen de ella\u201d, afirm\u00f3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Compromiso con los Derechos Humanos<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>El mandatario tambi\u00e9n reiter\u00f3 el compromiso del gobierno dominicano con la protecci\u00f3n de los derechos humanos y la lucha contra el trabajo forzoso. \u201cSeguiremos trabajando para garantizar que todas las empresas en nuestro pa\u00eds cumplan con las normativas internacionales y respeten los derechos de sus trabajadores\u201d, concluy\u00f3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La noticia fue recibida con alivio por la comunidad empresarial y los trabajadores de Central Romana, quienes esperan que esta medida contribuya a la recuperaci\u00f3n econ\u00f3mica del sector.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Santo Domingo. \u2013 El presidente Luis Abinader anunci\u00f3 que el Gobierno de los Estados Unidos ha levantado las restricciones que imped\u00edan a Central Romana exportar az\u00facar hacia ese pa\u00eds.
