El siniestro se concentr\u00f3 en el \u00e1rea del Mercado Modelo, donde operan decenas de peque\u00f1os y medianos comerciantes que venden productos agr\u00edcolas, v\u00edveres y art\u00edculos procesados.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Las llamas se propagaron r\u00e1pidamente, obligando a evacuar varias zonas del complejo y a suspender las operaciones en sectores cercanos. Aunque hasta el momento no se han reportado v\u00edctimas humanas, el impacto econ\u00f3mico es considerable. Numerosos locatarios intentaron salvar parte de sus mercanc\u00edas, pero muchos lo perdieron todo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brigadas del Cuerpo de Bomberos del Distrito Nacional y Santo Domingo Oeste acudieron de inmediato, desplegando unidades cisterna, escaleras y equipos especializados para contener el fuego, cuyas causas a\u00fan no han sido establecidas. El Merca Santo Domingo representa un eslab\u00f3n fundamental en la cadena de distribuci\u00f3n de alimentos en la capital, conectando a productores nacionales con mercados mayoristas y minoristas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Funcionarios del Ministerio de Agricultura, la Defensa Civil y la administraci\u00f3n del Merca se trasladaron al lugar para evaluar los da\u00f1os. Se espera un informe oficial en las pr\u00f3ximas horas.
